Thurmaston – Lockdown July 2020

Most of you will have read posts from news feeds concerning the Lockdown of Leicester and locally.  Thurmaston does not have a spike in numbers of Covid19.  The outbreak is in the North East of Leicester with 136 cases for every 100,000 (the County’s average is 60). Thurmaston is classified a buffer zone and, therefore, lockdown applies to Thurmaston including all Parish Council premises.  This will be reviewed every two weeks (the first review taking place on 18th July).  There will be increased testing along with track and trace.  Only essential travel should take place and working from home if possible.

 

Council premises:

Elizabeth Park Sports Centre – closed until further notice.

Memorial Hall, 722 Melton Road – closed until further notice.

Jubilee Pavilion –  closed until further notice.

Thurmaston Cemetery – open for visitors and funerals. Maximum of 30 funeral attendants, observing social distancing.  All visitors to observe social distancing regulations and do not approach Council Staff.

Parks:  Elizabeth Park, Garden Street Park, Silverdale Park:  Parks will remain open, but play equipment will remain closed until further notice.  No groups of more than 6 people, Social distancing to be observed at all times.
